Received October 2, 2008 from Erich Trapp

What a pleasant surprise to find your web pages and to discover that there are people interested in preserving this historic site.

My father, Dr. Fritz. C.E. Trapp, was a patient at JN Adam (the lasting impression the Army had on him during WWII was a case of TB), and I have a number of pictures of him and several other servicemen sleeping under tons of blankets and piles of snow during the winter, as part of the practice of treating TB patients was to expose them to the clean cold air of winter.

My father later became Assistant Director of Gowanda State Hospital (where my grandfather was once Director  -- Earl V. Gray).  At the time my dad was Assistant Director, JN Adam was being used as another medical facility, and he would often make rounds there.

My family has a long history in the area, and I am pleased and gratified to see people appreciate the value of preserving JN Adam.  Each year my wife and I return to the area and drive by the buildings, sad to see them decay more each year.  Thank you for your efforts to preserve this amazing institution.

Sincerely,
Erich Trapp
